Ash Wednesday is a call to return to God with all our hearts.

It marks the beginning of Lent, the forty day period of preparation for Easter and begins the journey to Good Friday and Easter.

This is a day for new beginnings with God, for putting aside the past and beginning afresh.

It is also a day when we are brought face to face with our own mortality, upon which we reflect in the light of the redeeming love of Christ.
